About Us

CAMHS.Digital is a new research unit in the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), which aims to develop digital technologies to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. Affiliated to the Centre for Women’s Mental Health (CWMH) at the University of Manchester, CAMHS.Digital aims to create the missing digital elements of CWMH work, which specialises in developing and delivering child-centred interventions to provide better outcomes for children, young people and families experiencing serious mental illness. By using innovative digital technologies, we hope that these tools will become much more accessible and acceptable to children and young people, and that this support will be sustainable and suitable to be scaled up to help a larger population.

In order to make this happen, we are working collaboratively with a range of outstanding academic, clinical and industry partners, ensuring that we have the expertise needed in all areas. As well as this, we want to utilise the expertise of children and young people themselves, to make sure that the technologies and tools developed are found to be useful and effective by the people who will be using them. CAMHS.Digital therefore aim to make sure that the views and knowledge of children and young people are central to all of our work, and that they play a huge role in co-designing and directing the research. ‘Our Principles’ show how we will do this.
